Welcome to The Original Shogun Kennels. We are a small family kennel out of Cincinnati, Ohio specializing in performance bred Presa Canarios. After more than 15 years of being breed enthusiasts and searching for examples of what a presa should be, we began our breeding program in 2003. We are dedicated to preserving the core of what sets the Presa aside from all other breeds. We breed toward functionality, presas that are able to perform.
While many breeders are debating on standards, how much white is acceptable in their coat, is it Presa Canario or Dogo Canario, etc., we are determined to keep to the true essence of what the breed originally was. They were unmatched guardians, with unbreakable loyalty to their owners and charges, intelligent and able to adapt to any circumstance. The focus of our program is producing examples of this wonderful breed that do honor and just to the concept and vision of those early Perro de Presa Canario breeders. Keeping the spotlight on the functional qualities of this breed is foremost in our program. This includes taking into consideration health and temperment. We hope that, if whether you are visiting our site for the first time or after much research, we provide you with the information that will help you understand why we love this breed.
